"John Updike Reads From Couples And Pigeon Feathers"(Caedmon TC 1276)-LP. This LP was released in 1969 and features John Updike reading selections from his own works....John Hoyer Updike (born March 18, 1932 in Shillington, Pennsylvania) is an American writer. Updike's most famous work is his Rabbit series (Rabbit, Run; Rabbit Redux; Rabbit Is Rich; Rabbit At Rest; and Rabbit Remembered). Rabbit is Rich and Rabbit at Rest both won Pulitzer Prizes for Updike. Describing his subject as "the American small town, Protestant middle class," Updike is well known for his careful craftsmanship and prolific writing, having published 22 novels and more than a dozen short story collections as well as poetry, literary criticism and children's books. Hundreds of his stories, reviews, and poems have appeared in The New Yorker since the 1950s....Couples is a 1968 novel by John Updike which focuses on a promiscuous circle of married friends in the fictional Boston suburb of Tarbox. Much of the novel concerns the efforts of its characters to balance the pressures of Protestant sexual mores against increasingly flexible American attitudes toward sex in the 1960s. The book suggests that this relaxation may have been driven by the development of birth control and the opportunity to enjoy what one character refers to as "the post-pill paradise." Its publication created a mild scandal and elicited a cover story in TIME magazine....Pigeon Feathers is an early collection of short stories by John Updike, published in 1962. It includes the story `Wife-Wooing`, which has been anthologized. The LP has been autographed on the front cover by John Updike.............CONDITION OF VINYL,COVER AND AUTOGRAPH IS VG............
