Playbill for The Coronet Theatre-January 26,1959-"The Disenchanted" Starring Jason Robards-6" X 9"-36 pages-theatre program.Jason Robards was distinguished stage and screen actor whose gritty performances in Eugene O'Neill plays placed him in the pantheon of legendary actors. He won back-to-back best supporting actor Oscars in 1977 and 1978 for All the President's Men and Julia, respectively. He signature performances in the works of O'Neill include The Iceman Cometh, Long Day's Journey into Night, and A Moon for the Misbegotten......Harvey Breit was an American poet, editor, and playwright of "The Disenchanted". He was married to poet and playwright Patricia Rinehart. He co-wrote the play The Disenchanted with Budd Schulberg, an adaption from Schulberg's novel of the same name about the life of F. Scott Fitzgerald.. Breit adapted other novels for the stage including R. K. Narayan's novel The Guide.Breit began his writing career at TIME, where he worked from 1933 to 1934. He was also a columnist and editor for the New York Times Book Review from 1948 to 1957. He lectured at Sarah Lawrence College, and died in 1968.Breit wrote the screenplay for Disenchanted about the life of F. Scott Fitzgerald with the author of the book of the same name, Budd Schulberg. The play was nominated for a Tony Award for best play in 1959 . It starred Jason Robards, who won a Tony for his performance. Breit also edited the letters of her husband, novelist Malcolm Lowry (The Selected Letters of Malcolm Lowry, Lippincott, 1964) with Marjorie Lowry.The Playbill has been autographed on the front cover by Jason Robards................BOTH PLAYBILL AND AUTOGRAPH ARE IN VERY GOOD CONDITION..........................
